Prospect-rich South Florida uncovers new faces to watch
As the off season is officially under way for high school football players, this is the time of year that these prospects - future and present - can really make a name for themselves.
With this region of the state loaded with over 100 plus Division 1 prospects, it's not hard to understand that there are new players to keep an eye on each week.
Because our aim is to expose and evaluate as many football prospects in South Florida, each week we will uncover a few more players - in all classes - to keep an eye on.
Remember, we attend camps, combines, 7-on-7 events and practices, so it gives us so many chances to see these budding football prospects and bring them right to you.
2013 - Kevin Delgado, OL, 6-5, 320, Miami Coral Park. Heading into his third year as a starter, this big time prospects continues to get better and better, and colleges are already starting to take notice. His coaches believe he is one of the best in the state!
2014 - Marquese Dudley-Gordon, DB, 6-2, 180, Western Cypress Bay. With all the quality football prospects in this class, this could be one of those who may turn more heads over the next year than any of them. His older brother, Shane, played for Cypress Bay as well.
2015 - Jaquan Johnson, Athlete, 5-10, 170, Miami Killian: The next great star in this state - who had enough talent to play every snap - offensively, defensively and special teams for the Cougars as a ninth grader. In addition to his 2.8 GPA, he had 78 carries for 545 yds. 11 rush TD's, 8 rec. 2 TD's, 5 int's 1TD, 45 tackles, 1 sack, 1 blocked kick, 30 yd. kick return average.
2013 - Zach Provin, OL, 6-3, 260, St. Thomas Aquinas. The son of a former UM standout in the Jimmy Johnson era, this is a quality prospect who continues to turn heads with his impressive play on the field and eye-catching 4.2 GPA.
2013 - Samuel Roger, RB, 5-9, 195, Miami Northwest Christian. One of the emerging stars of the class, who combines speed, power and the ability to pick up extra yards on the ground or as a receiver. Also a very productive blocker.
2013 - Illya Stafford, DB, 5-9, 155, Miramar Everglades. A two-year member of the 7 on 7 team Florida Footballers Fire, this outstanding athlete is coming off a junior year in which he had 3 interceptions, 35 tackles and two fumble recoveries.
2013 - Christian Suarez, MLB/DE, 5-10, 195, Miami Belen Jesuit. A two-year starter for the Wolverines, who is a proven play-maker who had 96 tackles, 2 INT's, 1 TD, 1.5 Sacks, caused 1 fumble and recovered 1 fumble.
2013 - Jordan Warren, DB, 5-9, 180, Miami Southridge. This one-time youth standout from West Kendall missed this past year with a knee injury, but now he is healthy and ready to showcase his skills.
