Dekahri Dawkins-Williams is a senior at South Dade Senior High. As a student he is actively involved in various activities at his school. He is currently enrolled in the newly established International Baccalaureate (IB) Program at South Dade. He is president of the Drug Free Youth In Town Club, best known as DFYit. He has recently participated in the South Dade High School's Talent Showcase to show off his singing talents. His artistic capabilities are demonstrated by his portfolio of drawings he has developed in his years of attendance at South Dade.

On top of all of this, his most important attribute is his participation as an athlete. He has been a part of the Varsity Cross Country and Track and Field teams at South Dade all four consecutive years.

The IB program possesses a rigorous curriculum that many students would not attempt. Additionally he is an athlete and the responsibility of juggling college level work for his eleventh and twelfth grade years is nothing short of amazing. If that is not enough, consider that this his first year of participation in the DFYit club and he has been promoted from club member to club president. This was done in the middle of the year because of the enthusiasm he shows and energy he gives toward the drug-free message. His club advisers could not wait to set him in the position. Do not let this come off to show him as power hungry and selfish. Dekahri is quite modest and humble in more accounts then most. He would not accept that position unless it was okay with the previous president member who held the position. 

He has excelled to team captain for his eleventh and twelfth grade year, and he works hard to maintain his conduct as a role model. Bragging is not his hobby and mockery is not in his favor, instead he moves constantly to inspire his teammates and remind them all that in the track season they are all family. To add on he has progressed to be a 2012 qualifier for the 4A State championship in not one, not two, but three events.

Anyways, with Dekahri being an IB student, club president, and energetic athlete, he is definitely worth being recognized as a Scholar Athlete.

He will continue with his passions at Florida International University in the fall.
