North Miami Beach receiver Steve Ishmael decides Syracuse is the right fit for him
We spoke with North Miami Beach wide receiver Steve Ishmael to get his thoughts on his commitment to Syracuse. Here are some notes from that conversation that explain why the ‘Cuse was the right fit for him.
*Ishmael said two of the biggest reasons he committed to Syracuse was his relationship with offensive coordinator George McDonald and the fact his good friend, Hialeah quarterback Alin Edouard, was already committed there. Edouard and Ishmael have been friends since the ninth grade.
*Ishmael and Edouard went to the NFTC camp last summer and developed a good chemistry and now it’s time “to carry it over to college and win.”
*Ishmael took his visit two weekends ago and said he liked the campus and the players and they “brought me in like I was already on the team.”
*Ishmael said McDonald told him he wants him in the rotation and that the coach knows I can “catch and make big plays.”
*Ishmael didn’t play any 7-on-7 and he “ate it all up” in terms of the lack of exposure and “took it as motivation.”
*Ishmael put up huge numbers this year – he told us 63 catches for 978 yards with 17 touchdowns this season- and that he is a “big time receiver” and a “big play guy” and its time to “go to college and prove my part there.”
