American defensive back makes a verbal commitment to the Charlie Partridge and the Owls
American 2014 defensive back Andrew Soroh will get a chance to play for Corey Bell again. Both are headed to FIU. On Tuesday, Bell, the former American head coach, was hired as the assistant defensive backs coach at FAU.
The same day, Soroh de-committed from FIU and committed to FAU.
“Their program is building something very special, especially with the new coaches from South Florida,” said Soroh. “I feel like it can get to a way bigger level than it is now.”
Soroh was recruited to play both corner and safety, and only started hearing from the the Owls once coach Charlie Partridge was hired. Soroh attended FAU’s camp over the summer and liked the campus. With a former high school teammate at FAU already, D’Joun Smith, and his coach just added to the staff, Soroh was excited to join them.
“[Coach Bell] is coaching the position I want to play and I think he can help turn me into an NFL-ready DB,” said Soroh.
Soroh thinks FAU is on the rise, and sees an opportunity to showcase South Florida talent to the world. But his teammate Smith gave him good advice.
“He told me if I come, I need to be ready to work,” Soroh said.
Soroh will take his official visit this weekend. He also said he is trying to get Carol City defensive back Tyree Johnson, an FIU commit, to join him up in Boca Raton.
